With each purchase of an Art + Activism digital download, the proceeds were gifted to the Detroit Public Schools Community District Fine Arts Program and provided Students with art supply scholarships through COVID-19.
Students interview other young artists to find out what drives their art and what Art + Activism means to them
“My name is Brionne Davis and I am a future philanthropist and filmmaker. What this film means to me is being able to share the stories of others (as artists) through their art, as well as my story. Art and activism to me means being able to advocate for what you believe in by showing it in a creative way.”
“My name is Dea’onne Reynolds. I feel my future is beyond what I can imagine! With our video, we got to the bottom of why the featured students make their art and what art and activism means to them. As well as their personal stories. As a young artist, seeing other young artists makes me feel motivated and inspired. I feel art and activism can have a big impact on people and their way of viewing things. Art can help switch the narrative and mindset of what you thought you knew… that's what film, art and animation do for me. Constantly seeing stories impacts physical and mental angles on life; its meditative in a way.”
